Egburt Featured at #SubCMT Congressional IoT Showcase

Camgian was invited by the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade to participate in the Congressional Internet of Things (IoT) Showcase on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. The event, held in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C., served to educate members of Congress on the latest IoT product innovations from the industry’s leading companies. Specifically, the event aimed to improve Congressional awareness of the current state of IoT technologies to better facilitate future government investment, innovation and adoption. At the event, Camgian CEO Gary Butler showcased the company’s award-winning Egburt IoT platform and discussed its applications in areas such as smart infrastructure and smart cities. Butler also discussed Egburt’s ability to reduce development costs and simplify deployment of enterprise IoT solutions. Congressmen Gregg Harper, Marsha Blackburn and Michael Burgess were among three of the representatives at the event who stopped by to learn more about Egburt. Other exhibitors included companies such as Toyota, Qualcomm, ABB, Alcatel-Lucent, and Logic Supply.

Immediately following the Showcase was a hearing entitled “The Internet of Things: Exploring the Next Technology Frontier,” which explored the opportunities for IoT to strengthen the U.S. economy and improve the quality of life for consumers. Challenges with IoT related to security and privacy were also discussed. Subcommittee members were very interested in understanding how they can help enable entrepreneurs to continue to be innovative while still protecting the rights of citizens. “What we want to make sure of on our end is that we don’t issue some regulation or enable some regulation that stifles innovation within the creative industry,” said Congressman Gregg Harper during the hearing. You can catch a recap of the hearing here.
